ENVIRONMENTAL ENGINEER

The Florida Keys Aqueduct Authority is accepting applications for an Environmental Engineer. The FKAA provides potable water and wastewater services for Monroe County. The purpose of this classification is to perform advanced level professional scientific work involving a variety of engineering, planning, and administrative tasks related to developing, managing, and evaluating FKAA’s Water Conservation Program and its related elements. The Water Conservation Program shall consist of supply and demand management measures that promote the most efficient use of FKAA’s allocated water supplies and infrastructure. Engineering responsibilities include design and preparation of plans and specification drawings for construction projects using hydraulic modeling, CAD, and GIS. Employee in this classification is also responsible for preparation of permits and grants related to water conservation and alternative water supplies. Minimum quals: Bachelor’s degree in civil, environmental, or closely related field; supplemented by four (4) years previous experience and/or training that includes progressively more responsible engineering experience in water resources management, water treatment, water distribution, and water quality; or any education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job. Must possess a Florida Engineering Intern (E.I.) License, or have the ability to obtain a Florida E.I. within six months and a Professional Engineering License in 18 months. The FKAA is interested in a self-motivated individual who has experience in public speaking, demonstrated leadership and managerial abilities, and a strong technical background. $62,298. – $74,757.
